This place was amazing! I ordered the chicken snack with collards and the pineapple slaw and my son ordered the mixed chicken plate with collards and mac and cheese. The restaurant was very busy but clean. It took a while to get through the line but the staff was friendly and checked in on us prior to us leaving.

First time customer and was not disappointed. I’m not a fan of spicy foods and was a little reluctant at first, but the Jerk Shack has some other incredibly tasty foods on their menu that has a wonderful blend of flavors without the heat from spices. Enjoyed their fried chicken, yams and fried plantains. Would recommend to anyone in the area or someone visiting.

I got the chicken snack with the rice and peas and jerk chicken and my husband got the chicken plate with pulled jerk chicken, fries and yams. Everything was seasoned Nicely and had just the right amount of heat. The fries had to be some of the best I have had. I look forward to coming back and trying some more of their food! I just saw that the chef and co-owner of this restaurant is going to be a part of the James beard foundations taste america event. I just wanted to come and add that this distinction is well deserved based off my experience with their food.

It was a nice comfy spot with tasty food. I had the Ox tail special, which is only served on the weekends. The meat was tender and full of flavor. It could use a little more kick in spice, in my opinion. The banana pudding was all DELICIOUS!! This place is a must try. Oh, and don't forget the fried green tomatoes!!

I ordered the chopped sandwich with pork and a side of mac & cheese. I love the coleslaw and the spicy kick . The mac & cheese was bomb and the chives complemented it great. I didn’t know how good this place would be until I tried it, and I didn’t know that it was Michelin recognized until I walked in. 10/10 would come again

Hands down the most soulful food and selfless service I’ve experienced in a long time. I don’t even know how to begin to describe how amazing The Jerk Shack is. It’s more than just a restaurant—it’s a place filled with heart, soul, and love. After a long day of work and fasting, I was ready to finally eat. A friend told me The Jerk Shack had the best food in the area, so we pulled up ready to feast. As we got out, we started chatting with a friendly man and a young boy near our vehicle. Moments later, a kind woman came outside and asked if we were here to eat. To our surprise, the restaurant was actually closed... But when she saw how excited we were, she opened the doors just for us. Who does that anymore? Turns out, that kind woman was Nicola, one of the owners—an absolute angel on earth alongside Cornelius. Their warmth and love for people shines through in everything they do, especially in the way they treat their customers. And let me tell you—their food tastes like it’s made with intention, love, and purpose. This wasn’t just a meal. It was a blessing. If you want food that feeds your body and your spirit—this is the spot. Nicola and Cornelius, thank you. You’re running something truly special.

I heard the buzz about @thejerkshacksatx. I heard the food was fire. I heard about their Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide and their James Beard nominated chef but I was somehow still surprised when they served me a completely phenomenal meal. We tried a good variety: - jerk chicken- potentially some of the best chicken I’ve had in my life - fried chicken- crispy and flavorful - collard greens - incredible, I’ve never had greens this good from a restaurant - macaroni and cheese - some of the best macaroni in San Antonio - beef patty - flaky and flavorful Every bite had us saying mmmmmm. I’ll be back asap to try the curries.

Me and my wife tried this wonderful place today. I got the mixed chicken plate (gives you fried chicken and jerk chicken) with the masala fries and mac and cheese. Everything was outstanding. The only fried chicken that can compare is Southerleigh at the Pearl. My wife got the chicken curry and loved it. They even cooked plantains I such a way that I actually enjoyed them, which is a feat. Highly recommend this place if you want some great chicken!
